EXODUS Guitarist Explains Arlington Cancellation

October 8, 2005

Veteran San Francisco Bay Area thrashers EXODUS cancelled their previously announced Oct. 8 headlining show at the Phoenix in Arlington, Texas. The group's guitarist, Gary Holt, has posted the following statement regarding the cancellation:

"Just wanted to let everyone know the tour is not cancelled. Everything is fine except for the Arlington, Texas show today. We arrived to find the P.A. was a mess, all but one monitor had blown drivers, even four local openers had pulled out of this guy's [local promoter's] show within the last few days. But we would have still done the show if the promoter-band member-sound dude had not been such a prick. This guy, right from the start, was trying to tell our soundman how he had to mix, was just difficult from the get-go. Nothing was correct with the sound system, but we would have played anyway if he was a well-meaning dude who was a bit in over his head. Us, [plus opening bands] 3 INCHES OF BLOOD, CRISIS and WATCH THEM DIE all decided to bail. All other shows are on as planned."

EXODUS are touring in support of their latest album, "Shovel Headed Kill Machine", which was released on Tuesday (October 4) via Nuclear Blast Records. Recorded at Trident studios in Pacheco, California and mixed by Andy Sneap (MACHINE HEAD, ARCH ENEMY),the follow-up to 2004's "Tempo of the Damned" is the band's first to feature new members Lee Altus (guitar; HEATHEN),Paul Bostaph (drums; ex-SLAYER, TESTAMENT, FORBIDDEN) and Rob Dukes (vocals).
